From November 1st 2023, older Australians will have access to the newest Shingles vaccine ‘Shingrix’ thanks to the Australian Government.
It will now be part of the National Immunisation Program, providing free Shingrix vaccines for:
– Everyone aged 65 years and over,
– First Nations people aged 50 years and over,
– Immunocompromised people aged 18 years and over at high risk of herpes zoster infection.
We have been provided with low stock of the vaccine and are currently vaccinating patients who are due for their 2nd dose of Shingrix, as well as immunocompromised patients. These patients will receive an SMS from us when vaccination appointments are available.
We expect supply of the vaccine will increase in 2024.
