Home » Fees & Payment Policy

Glen Iris Medical Group is a private billing practice. To ensure we can provide you & your family with the best care possible, most consultations will incur an out-of-pocket fee.

This information is current at 1st July 2024 & is subject to change.

GP Consultation Fees

*Home visits will incur a higher fee.

In addition to the consultation fee, further costs may be incurred through procedures, immunisations, medications, investigations, treatments or specialist consultations.

We are sympathetic to patients who are experiencing financial difficulty – please discuss this with your doctor.

Scripts & Referrals

There may be a $28 fee for prescriptions, referrals & other administrative services provided without an appointment.

Telehealth Consultations

Telephone & video consultations are available to existing patients and can be booked online. Our fees apply as above.

Please note that patients are not eligible for a Medicare rebate for telehealth consultations if they have not attended a face-to-face consultation with a doctor at the practice in the past 12 months.

Patients will be asked to provide credit card details as part of the booking process & will be charged following the appointment.

Practice Nurse Fees

Some appointments with the Practice Nurse will incur an out-of-pocket fee. Common nurse appointment types & applicable fees are listed in the table below. Otherwise please check with reception for any associated fees when booking your appointment.

Services with the Practice Nurse are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.

*Additional fees for consumables may apply.

Private Vaccines

Vaccines not funded by the Government incur an out-of-pocket cost in addition to the vaccine administration fee. Please speak to your doctor, practice nurse or reception staff for more information on specific vaccine prices.

Procedures

Payments

We kindly request that all accounts be paid on the day of service. We accept Visa, Mastercard & EFTPOS. We do not accept American Express or Diners Club. Cash & cheque payments are not preferred but will be accepted.

Once your account has been paid, we can submit your Medicare claim on your behalf if we have your current Medicare card details. Any applicable Medicare rebate will be paid into your bank account.

We are unable to process private health insurance claims.

We are also able to take credit card payments over the phone or via our online system, AutoMed.

Automed Payments

Following a telehealth consultation or if you have an outstanding invoice, Automed will send you an SMS with a payment link. You can view & pay your invoice by clicking the link & following the prompts. Once your invoice has been paid, we will submit your Medicare claim on your behalf.

Patients can also choose to save their credit card details when making a payment via Automed. Saved card details will be used to process payments for future consultations or unpaid invoices. This is an optional opt-in feature.

Patients who have consented to have their card details saved can contact us at any time to have them removed from the system.

Late Cancellation & Non-Attendance Fees

If you are unable to attend an appointment, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice where possible as there is often a high demand for appointments.

Our practice understands there are sometimes extenuating circumstances resulting in the failure to attend an appointment or a late cancellation. However, cancelling an appointment without adequate notice or failing to attend an appointment may incur a $50 fee at the doctor’s discretion.

Medical History Transfers

If you require your medical history to be transferred to another practice, a $28 administration fee may apply.

Worker’s Compensation / TAC Claims

If your consultation relates to a Worker’s Compensation or TAC Claim, please provide us with your claim details & we will forward related invoices directly to the applicable agent for payment.

Patients who are yet to obtain a claim number will be privately charged & can seek reimbursement from the applicable agent.

DVA Card Holders

Our practice bulk-bills DVA card holders. However, out-of-pocket fees may apply for consumables, procedures or immunisations.

Non-Medicare Patients

Patients without a Medicare card may be able to claim a rebate via their private health insurance.
