Confidentiality
Our staff are bound by strict confidentiality requirements as a condition of employment.
Your information is handled with the utmost respect for your privacy. Your file will be accessed by your medical practitioner & when necessary (for example in the absence of your usual medical practitioner) by other medical practitioners in the practice. It may also be necessary for our staff to handle your file from time to time to address the administrative requirements of running a medical practice.
Ordinarily we will not release your information without your consent. However, there may be occasions where we will be required to release information from your file irrespective of whether you consent to disclosure of the information. This will only occur where the law requires disclosure of such information, such as in accordance with a subpoena.
Medical Records
We advise that as a patient of this practice you have rights of access to any information we hold concerning you. Should you wish to access this information, please obtain our “Request for Personal Health Information” form from reception. Please note that an administration fee may apply.
If you require your medical record to be transferred to another practice, a transfer fee may apply to cover administration costs. We require a consent form signed by you from your new practice before we can provide them with a copy of your medical record.
After Hours Care
In an emergency please call 000.
Our doctors provide an after-hours service until 11.00PM on weekdays. You can access our after-hours service by phoning the practice after-hours on 03 9509 7633 & following the prompts.
From 11:00PM to 8:00AM weekdays, from 12:00PM on weekends and on public holidays, after-hours care is provided by a locum service, Hello Home Doctor, who offer a home visiting service. To access this service please call 03 9509 7633 after-hours & follow the prompts.

Epworth Richmond Hospital Emergency Clinic – Ph: 03 9506 3000
Please note that these are both Private Hospitals so there will be an out-of-pocket facility fee.
The Alfred Hospital, Monash Medical Centre & the Royal Children’s Hospital also have accident & emergency departments
Recall System
The practice has an established recall/reminder system and it is our policy to enrol patients in this system unless otherwise advised by the patient.
As private medical practitioners, we are eligible to access a Free Interpreting Service on the patient’s behalf when delivering services that are:
- Medicare-rebatable
- delivered in private practice
- provided to anyone in Australia who is eligible for Medicare
The Free Interpreting Service can be used for delivering health services, including but not limited to:
- scheduling appointments
- consultations
- developing health plans
- providing medical test results

Medical Students
Glen Iris Medical Group is committed to providing education to Medical & Nursing students.
If we have a medical student in the practice, you will be asked when you book your appointment if you consent to have the medical student present during your consultation. We will also ask again when you arrive for your appointment. Please don’t hesitate to advise staff if you would prefer not to have a medical student present during your consultation.
