With Covid-19 remaining an issue in our community, we thought it might be a good opportunity for some forward thinking in case you catch COVID-19.

Some things you should have on hand are:

Throat lozenges with Anaesthetic
Alcohol wipes
Hand Sanitizer
Face Masks

ATAGI’s clincal recommendation is that patients receive their annual influenza vaccine anytime from mid-April onwards to be protected for the peak flu season, which is generally June to September.

From 11 July 2022, more Australians at higher risk of developing severe COVID-19 will be able to access oral antiviral treatments following new recommendations from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee.

Most cases of COVID-19 are mild and can be managed at home. Some people who are at higher risk may need specific antiviral treatments prescribed by their healthcare provider.

Dr Matthew Thuy graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2008. He has worked in a number of public hospitals in Melbourne, Hobart & Sydney and completed his GP Training in 2019.

Face masks in general practice 😷
It has been announced that masks will no longer need to be worn in the majority of indoor settings in Victoria as of Friday 25 February.

Booster Shots are now available 💉 – update as of 3rd February 2022. We currently have availability most weeks on a Tuesday or Thursday morning.

Patients who have tested positive to COVID-19 can be vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine three months after infection.

A booster vaccination is still recommended even if a patient has had COVID-19 and a two-dose primary vaccine course.

Due to the public holiday Australia Day GIMG will be closed Wednesday 26th January.

Glen Iris Medical Group is now offering existing patients 5-11 Years Pfizer Vaccinations with appointments from the 2nd February 2022.
Our clinics will be held on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Bookings are essential so please book online.

From the 7th January patients will need to report their positive result to the Department of health via a webform or the hotline 1800 675 398 so we can make sure they have the support they need.
