Thunderstorm Asthma
Grass pollen season brings an increase in asthma and hay fever. It also brings the chance of thunderstorm asthma. For people with asthma or hay fever, especially those who experience wheezing or coughing with their hay fever, thunderstorm asthma can be sudden, serious and even life threatening.

Moderna Bivalent Vaccine now available
Glen Iris Medical Group currently has stock of Moderna bivalent vaccine available as a Covid -19 booster vaccine. Patients over 18 who have not had their 3rd dose are eligible, patients over 30 who have not had their 4th booster vaccine are eligible. This must be given 3 months or more since your last covid vaccination and/or 3 months or more since you were covid positive.

Glen Iris Medical Group will be closed Tuesday 1st November due to the Melbourne Cup public holiday.

Stay well
Fee Increase 1st November ’22
We wish to advise from the 1st of November there will be a small fee increase at Glen Iris Medical Group. Our last fee increase was November 2021, and while we have tried very hard to maintain our current fee structure, significantly increased costs can no longer be absorbed.
Travel Consultations & Travel Kits
We have all been grateful for the removal of COVID restrictions this year and are pleased to have welcomed back travel.

We Welcome Dr Satheesh Gabriel
Glen Iris Medical Group welcomes Dr Satheesh Gabriel. Satheesh graduated from Pondicherry University, India in 2007. He has worked in various regional and rural hospitals around Victoria. Satheesh has a particular interest in all aspects of general practice, chronic disease management, preventative health, mental health, skin cancer and pain medicine.

Seasonal Influenza Vaccine & Pfizer 4th Winter Dose – Updated 13.7.22
ATAGI’s clincal recommendation is that patients receive their annual influenza vaccine anytime from mid-April onwards to be protected for the peak flu season, which is generally June to September.
Online Bookings are now open for existing patients who would like their Flu or Pfizer 4th winter dose. Please read below for costs and eligibility.
Eligibility for Covid-19 oral treatment
From 11 July 2022, more Australians at higher risk of developing severe COVID-19 will be able to access oral antiviral treatments following new recommendations from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee.
Most cases of COVID-19 are mild and can be managed at home. Some people who are at higher risk may need specific antiviral treatments prescribed by their healthcare provider.
